RISE to Host Critical Conversation with New York Liberty, Good Shepherd Services and Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence

NEW YORK - RISE, the national nonprofit coalition of major U.S. sports leagues and media networks that uses sports to eliminate racism and champion social justice, will host a Critical Conversation panel discussion in conjunction the Howard Hughes Foundation that will feature members of the NBA, the WNBA's New York Liberty, Good Shepherd Services and Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (B.R.A.G).
WHAT: RISE will partner with the Howard Hughes Foundation to host a 45-minute Critical Conversation that will discuss the impact that gun violence has on communities of color and how sports can increase access, opportunity, mentorship and education initiatives in communities to deter gun violence. Afterwards, students will work in teams to generate solutions to deter gun violence through sports.
WHO: Members from Good Shepherd Services and B.R.A.G., as well as Kamela Mohammed from the NBA and New York Liberty player Jocelyn Willoughby. The panel will be moderated by RISE's Senior Director of Empowerment Scarlen Martinez.
