EMPOWERING NEW ORLEANS YOUTH AND COLLEGE STUDENTS TO BE LEADERS FOR RACIAL EQUITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

Leading up to Super Bowl LIX, RISE is holding our fifth annual Super Bowl Leadership Program, for the first time engaging youth and college students in two separate RISE Leadership Programs before bringing the groups together for culminating programming in February 2025 prior to Super Bowl LIX.

Beginning in late 2024 and continuing through Super Bowl Week in 2025, these programs will empower select youth and college student leaders from the New Orleans area to be leaders in creating solutions for reducing racial inequities and injustices in their communities.

The program will break down barriers and build relationships among participants with a cross-section of races and socioeconomic backgrounds, and incorporate engagements with athletes, sports professionals and social justice leaders.

About RISE

RISE is a national nonprofit with a mission to educate and empower the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.

Working across all sports at all levels, RISE's programs create safe spaces to discuss diversity, empathy, and perspective taking in ways that promote important and often difficult conversations around social justice and leadership in order to support activism and meaningful change within communities. Rooted in our dynamic, interactive curriculum that increases an understanding of racial equity and builds cultural competence, RISE programs empower people of all ages to be champions of change.

What to Expect

The RISE Super Bowl Leadership Program connects with young leaders from the New Orleans area to participate in cultural and community-focused programming and projects focused on empowering and connecting communities working towards racial justice. Students in the program will discuss the ways in which they can become activists and leaders in their communities. In the months leading up to the Super Bowl, participants will develop projects that will showcase their learning, creativity and leadership skills developed during the program.

All participants are required to sign a media waiver, as photo and video content captured from the program could be featured by RISE, the NFL and other partners. Participants will have the opportunity to have their projects highlighted on the RISE website and social media.
