LEADERSHIP & SPORTS ADVOCACY WORKSHOPS
RISE has partnered with Morehouse College and the NFL to host educational workshops for current and former professional athletes across various sports on how to develop and lead effective advocacy initiatives that positively impact society.
The Leadership & Sports Advocacy Workshops offer teaching, training and support to professional athletes who are invested in social impact causes.
Over the course of three days, athletes are afforded an opportunity for skill building and an understanding of advocacy strategies. They participate in sessions on identity, power and community building, learn how to start and support their own foundations and not-for-profits, and explore the history of sport, civil rights and social justice movements while hearing from academics, social activists and fellow athletes.

The NFL, RISE and Morehouse College partnership is the product of meetings first convened by RISE in 2016 to develop a strategy that would help to equip athletes with the tools and resources necessary to impact social issues.
The second annual Leadership & Sports Advocacy Workshop was held at Morehouse College in Atlanta from March 27 to 29, 2019. The inaugural workshop was held February 21 to 23, 2018, also at Morehouse College.
